Cortana, Windows voice assistant has taken services to a different level. Apart from simply opening apps for you or dialing numbers for you, the AI now takes complete charge of your mailbox.
Cortana has been known for her ability to assist users in various ways – be it managing the way the alerts are delivered, or in simple services like delivering the weather details to the person’s inbox everyday. Now, with the advent of Windows 10, Cortana has become a little more advanced than usual. The Windows 10 Cortana can now help you to manage your inbox and set reminds and alerts depending on the content of the email.
The program simply scans the emails and picks out words and phrases that appear like actionables for you. For example, if there is a statement in a mail that says ‘send it by the end of the day’ Cortana automatically creates a reminder for this and exactly before the end of the day, you are reminded of the email. This is particularly helpful when you are handling about three to four mailboxes a day and are always overloaded with work. Cortana does not let you forget anything at all.
You can also teach Windows 10 Cortana to alert you on specific emails only. This is quite a relief, because she tends to send alerts for every mail in which she finds anything like a ‘to-do’ item. You might end up with like a hundred alerts a day if you do not stem this, so you must tell Cortana your preferences. You can tell Cortana who’s mails you want an alert from and whom to ignore. For example, you can teach her to alert you for emails from your boss and never to alert you for any mails from your pesky acquaintance. That way, she’ll remember what you want and you’ll remember not to forget what you have to do urgently.
