All Surface Pro users across the globe – this one is for you. If you are one of those who has a habit of twisting your charger cable real tight to fold it, you might be in real trouble.
A recent array of complaints have come from Surface Pro users across the world. They have claimed to have heating issues with the power cable of the device and have raised concerns. A faulty power cable or one that overheats could spell trouble; the device could catch fire and cause damage to your body and property. Microsoft really does not want to take any chances, even though no such problems have been reported. The company has made a move that will ensure that the users stay completely safe.
Microsoft’s Authorized Device Reseller (ADR) channel has stated that they would be providing free cable replacement to the Surface pro users. However, this offer will remain open only to those people who will be having Surface Pro devices that have been manufactured before 15th July 2015. This being the cut off date will take care of almost all those users whose devices may have fallen out of warranty.
Thankfully, no major incident has occurred so far and this is a rather good move by Microsoft to avert problems in future.
The devices covered in the free replacement program are the Surface Pro, Pro 2 and Pro 3. No replacement will be given for Surface Pro 4 or the non surface products.
The Surface Tabs are the direct competitors to the iPads from Apple. Although expensive, these hybrids are much more powerful than iPads, because they can multitask and work just like laptops, which is something iPads cannot do. The iPad Pro might be a good competitor, but could not really perform the way the Surface Pro 4 has. It is apt to call this a laptop replacement device and indeed, in future if these devices are to get cheaper, so that a common man can afford it, then laptops would be history for ever and powerful hybrids will take their place.
