Sony PlayStation Planning To Launch Mobile Games For Android And iOS

Oct 14, 2016 By

Sony’s PlayStation gaming business is planning to launch more than five smartphone games, the company said on Friday, following in the steps of Nintendo as the Japanese electronics giant aims to take a slice of the lucrative mobile games market. The games are to be released in the year ending March 2018 on Apple’s iOS and Alphabet’s Google Android operating system through Sony’s Forward Works subsidiary, which it opened earlier this year to focus on mobile gaming.

Japan and then other Asian countries will be the first markets to receive the games. Console makers have been struggling in the world’s third-largest games market where mobile revenues make up over 50 percent of the $12.4 billion market, according to games research firm Newzoo. In contrast, consoles make up about 38 percent of the market, a trend that is not typical in many other countries globally. And 61 percent of the country’s 69 million gamers spend money. This is attractive for Sony.

“Japan is a market where Sony and other console makers are struggling to sell units. Sony had to react. People are consuming smartphone games like there is no tomorrow,” Serkan Toto, CEO of Japanese gaming consultant and advisory group Kantan Games, told CNBC by phone. Sony did not elaborate on what titles would come first. The announcement comes as Sony looks to continue the strong momentum it has seen in its gaming division. Its PlayStation VR (virtual reality) headset went on sale on Thursday, while the company also recently released refreshed versions of its PlayStation 4 console.

Console makers have had to look at mobile gaming for new sources of revenue. Last year, Nintendo signed a deal with games maker DeNA to bring a number of titles to mobile. Earlier this year, Nintendo launched “Pokemon Go” in partnership with Niantic, which was a big success for the company. And Nintendo announced in September that it is bringing “Super Mario Run” to Apple’s iOS.

PlayStation 4 Might Have A New Slim Controller

Aug 23, 2016 By

We have already seen what could be the brand new PlayStation 4 controller which if true is going to be a lot slimmer in the rumors building up to this and numerous reports and auction sites such and even at the Eurogamer. But now, we have got a chance to also have a look at what could very well be the next controller. We can see some of the details in the YouTube video uploaded by the developer and tech blogger ZRZ. In the video it shows a controller which looks almost like the current PlayStation 4 DualShock 4 controller but with a twist. The twist is that the controller in the YouTube video uploaded by the developer and tech blogger ZRZ we can see there is a light bar on the top of the controller is now surprisingly is also visible on the front face as well.

It is yet to be cleared that if the additional light that appears in the front of the controller is coming from a separate light or it is just a slit that is allowing the controller’s back light to bleed through. It is yet to be cleared that if the controller in the video is the real deal or just a publicity stunt. But if the controller which is shown in the video does turn out to be the next controller for all the PlayStation 4 users, than all the users will be praying that the additional light will not have a different source instead have an already existing source.

The reason behind that is the PlayStation 4 controllers have come under a lot of complaints that the controller has a really short battery and most of the users blame the changing lighting on the back of the controller. Whatever it may be, it will be cleared up by Sony on 7th September.

Sony Anticipated to be Working on PlayStation 4.5 – know the details:

Mar 19, 2016 By

One of the most popular names in the world of gaming and consoles, Sony has been a mainstay in the markets for decades now. With the PlayStation device, the company changed the way we know gaming to be, and the company continues doing so with the PlayStation VR now about to release. Sony is also among the rumors to be working on a latest, innovative device – the PlayStation 4.5SonyPS4v1

PlayStation 4.5 comes out as an innovation of the Sony PS4, but is not the PlayStation 5 yet. This console is expected to get various boosts and makeovers when compared to the PS4, and is expected to be an even more VR friendly console.

As of now, there is no confirmation on the same, but it has been anticipated that Sony is indeed working on a 4K version of the PlayStation 4. According to Kotaku reports, various developers have been mentioning an upcoming PS4K device. However, when they contacted Sony, they were told – “We can’t comment on rumors or speculation,” a Sony spokesperson told Kotaku.

The PlayStation 4.5 is expected to come out into the markets with the ability to play content at a resolution of 4K. The GPU of the device is also expected to get a major boost. The upgrade is likely to happen around the holidays 2016 or early in 2017. However, it won’t be treated as a proper new console, but as just another innovation in the existing model.

It is also worth noting that the current PlayStation 4 devices also support 4K resolution, but they can only show it for movies, and not for the games. As of now the highest resolution on which the games can run on is 1080p. It is also being anticipated that Sony would allow other VR devise such as the HTC Vive and the Oculus Rift to be connected to their console after this update.

PlayStation VR launched at $399, To Come Out in October –

Mar 19, 2016 By

One of the most awaited names in the world of gaming, the PlayStation VR has now been made official. The company has been trying hard to change the way the markets of gaming technology work, and their work has been made easier with the advent of the Virtual Reality technology. The PlayStation VR has now been made official and has been announced by Sony. The device follows many other VR devices such as Oculus Rift and HTC Vive. However, the PlayStation VR is expected to be quite a big competition to the other existing devices in the markets.

With the arrival of the PlayStation VR, markets are going to witness a device which has ‘ready markets’. Priced in at just $399, the PS VR costs $200 less thanScreenshot_11 the Oculus Rift and $400 less than the HTC Vive. Also, the biggest benefit that PlayStation’s VR device has over its competitors on the PC is that the market is ready – i.e., in order to play a VR game in Oculus or HTC Vive, users need to assemble a gaming PC which requires high-end RAM and processors which in itself costs over $1500 on an average. The advantage with the PS VR is the fact that it runs on the PlayStation 4.

With over 40 million PS4 devices already in the market, the PlayStation VR comes with an added edge over its competitors. While the pricing is an advantage, the bigger advantage is in the form of market readiness.

However, in order to use the device in its maximum potential, a PlayStation Camera too will be needed. While most ardent gamers might already have it, some gamers would need to buy it, and it is available at $45 on Amazon.

The device will officially release in the month of October 2016 if everything goes as smooth as it has been planned to.
