Snapchat Parent Snap Inc Working on Drones

Mar 1, 2017 By

Snapchat has been a revolutionary force when it comes to the world of social media and technology. Last year, the company then known as Snapchat re-branded as Snap Inc, and separated the parent company’s identity from the app. Snap Inc is currently busy doing road shows for investors, and is raising money for their upcoming IPO, currently evaluated between $19 to $23 Billion. Meanwhile, Snap Inc has also been reported to be working on drones!

Snap Inc Drones

The drones made by Snap will be able to take aerial photos and videos. However, at the moment we are not sure if Snap does intend to release it on a larger scale and make it available for the users, or are they planning to take a B2B approach here, or is it something they are doing just for fun. The reports of Snap Inc building a drone comes to us via the New York Times, and it cites three insiders who are close to the matter but wish to remain anonymous.

Snap Inc has always worked on taking visual communication to the next level. While they began with Snapchat, which revolutionized the way users communicate, changing it from text-based to a more visual form of communication, last years’ Snap Specs took the game to a whole new direction too as the users can now share experiences the way they actually see things. With these drones now being reported, Snapchat can now bring forward another major revolution in the form of aerial photography and videos.

At this point of time it is in too early a stage to comment on the company’s plans. Snap Inc is producing some drones, and it is likely to be more of a B2B service over the long term, possibly tying up with events or broadcasters, or similar deals like these. Stay tuned for more updates on what the company’s plans are

Snapchat 9.45 Allows you to Share Stories in Group Chat

Dec 15, 2016 By

Group Chats, Creative Tools and Shazam Integration is the talk of the town. Just Snap it with Snapchat 9.45!!!

A couple of years down the memory lane, the entire world thrived on Orkut, Facebook and Instagram. Then a whole new generation of teenagers walked into the virtual world who had a different story to share every hour. To fix their media cravings, a bunch of college students from Stanford University founded the wonderful Snapchat application. Evan Spiegel, 25-year old CEO, currently the youngest billionaire in world allowed us to snap our stories every day.

Snapchat was basically dedicated to teen population (13 to 17 year old nosy bunch of high schoolers) who thought every second thing around them was cool! So developers gave them an opportunity to share multimedia messages (pics, videos, stickers and texts) with their contacts. Successfully sweeping youngsters off their feet, Snapchat roped in the SnapCash feature that allows discrete sharing of funds between school communities and corporate cafes. A quick cashless way of conducting business for young aspiring businessmen!

Presently, the app is available in 20 different languages and has 200 million users worldwide. To rope in more profits, the company launched Snapchat 9.45 with added features this week.

Snapchat 9.45 Uses Group chat, Creative Tools and Shazam Integration

Snapchat 9.45 includes group chat that can be shared with all or selected members on your list. As expected, the stories disappear from the group after 24 hours.

If you’re sick and tired of dealing with unoptimized mess, you’ll be glad about Snapchat 9.45 updates. It includes group chat that can be shared with all or selected members on your list. As expected, the stories disappear from the group after 24 hours. The plus point is you can send the same story to multiple people and have their replies in a single thread.

Next comes the Snapchat Creative Tools. Developers have included a scissor that lets you snip a part of your image file on a preview screen. You can save it and use as sticker. There’s a paintbrush tool that lets you add artistic filters to Snaps in your Memories. They’re perfect tools for an artsy Anna.

When you use the app on camera view while playing an audio file or song, a Shazam card will appear on the screen. It displays song details, artist, lyrics etc.

Shazam integration is probably the most useful update on Snapchat 9.45. When you use the app on camera view while playing an audio file or song, a Shazam card will appear on the screen. It displays song details, artist, lyrics etc. Tap this option to get other details like music video, audio snippet and links to purchase it online.

The new features will certainly bring more recognition for Snapchat 9.45. In future the app is expected to give a solid competition to other social media giants.

Instagram Introducing Live Video And Ephemeral Messaging In Its Latest Updates

Nov 21, 2016 By

If you thought that Instagram was done with going after Snapchat, then you are absolutely wrong! This photo application has just started, with introducing the live video and some impressive new messaging features which will allow the users to share some private messages which will be disappearing outside of stories. This was announced by the company on Tuesday. The new and upcoming features for messaging inside the app, you will be able to send messages to your friends or a group of friends which will disappear once they read it. You will be able to do this with the Stories camera. The disappearance of the messages or media will be identical to that of Snapchat and you will be notified if someone takes a screenshot.

In order to help you differentiate between direct messages and the normal chat, Instagram will be using outlines around the icons. Besides the Ephemeral messaging, the photo app company is also introducing the live video feature which will be rolled out in the next couple of weeks. You will find the live videos in two places in Instagram, in the new section of “explore and in Stories as well. Anyways, the video will only be available to watch during the broadcast. Once the broadcaster takes the video down, the video will disappear from the app altogether.

The camera for the live video is very much similar to the Facebook Live or Periscope. You will be able to see who is watching you and the viewers will be able to comment and hearts will also be available. This looks like Instagram is going after the Facebook Live audience but the ephemerality of the app’s live video is directed towards robbing the Snapchat audience instead of Facebook’s. Instagram has not hidden the fact that it is directly going after Snapchat and after every update is emulating Snapchat more and more, even Facebook has also tried to emulate it on its main app.

Snapchat To Start Selling Snap Inc shares By March 2017 in the Next IPO:

Nov 16, 2016 By

Snapchat has already embarked upon its journey of having people involved in the whole business indirectly. To give shape to this, in its next initial public offering or IPO, the company is finally getting ready to give some of its shares a way to the people. Although this has been set out for around the month of March in 2017, people have already started planning as to how they wish to invest in getting new shares. This report has been calculated by Bloomberg and they have denoted that the chances of having an IP you are quite high because the company is expecting less than 1 bilion US dollars in revenue.

By having shares rolled out to public , the company has proved that the C E O of decision of not selling its operations to Facebook in the year 2013 has finally paid off and although the movie was criticized in tech forums across the globe and by some financial experts , there is no doubt that today this decision has alone caused the company to grow from just a startup venture to a big brand altogether. This also means that the IPO will be quite big and husband estimated to Be Anything between 25 and 30 billion US dollars but chances are that the total value is even higher. No one had ever imagined that when the application was offered 3 bilion in terms of sales in 2013 to Facebook, its decision to turn this lucrative offer down would Fetch the company profits almost 10 times more than what was initially promised.

Needless to say, this growth has been credited completely to its innovative ideas and a new approach towards social networking. Snapchat has moved from nearly an application to the status of a hardware accessories manufacturer as well which can be shown by its recent launch of a smart sunglass called the Snapchat spectacles.

Undoubtedly this product is going to be a very popular one down the line and with more search innovations and away, people would start heavily using Snapchat for its various functionality. Although it faces stiff competition from Facebook and Instagram  it has still got a lot of room for improvement. As of now Instagram has more number of followers in Snapchat does but if development’s continue this way and if the initial public offering in terms of shares is also made two people then Snapchat may start earning much more than what it is earning right now.

Snapchat Releases Glasses With Camera

Sep 24, 2016 By

Messaging app firm Snapchat has announced its first gadget – sunglasses with a built-in camera. The device, which the company is calling Spectacles, will go on sale later this year priced at $130 (£100). The glasses will record up to 30 seconds of video at at time. As part of the announcement, Snapchat is renaming itself to Snap, Inc. The renaming decision underlined the company’s apparent ambition to go beyond the ephemeral messaging app, a product which is highly popular with young people.

An article published by the Wall Street Journal on Friday showed Snap’s 26-year-old creator Evan Spiegel in a series of pictures taken by legendary fashion photographer Karl Lagerfeld. In an interview, Mr Spiegel explained his rationale for creating Spectacles. Spectacles will remind many of Google Glass, an ill-fated attempt by the search giant to create smart glasses. While Google Glass did get into the hands of developers around the world – at a cost of $1,500 each – the device never came close to being a consumer product. The company eventually halted development, but insisted the idea was not dead.

Though Glass was beset by hardware issues, perhaps its main flaw was the public perception. At worst, many saw it as troubling, privacy-invading technology. At best, others just considered it ridiculous-looking. However, with a far lower price point, and likely adoption by influential celebrities, Snap’s Spectacles stand a solid chance of being seen as cooler than Google’s attempt. “If you look at the kinds of glasses millennials wear, the design is very ‘in’,” suggested Carolina Milanesi, a consumer technology analyst from Creative Strategies.

“Making them sunglasses helps hide the camera better, but it also limits the usage somewhat – you’ll need to be outside in daylight. According to the WSJ, Snap is not treating the device as a major hardware launch, rather a fun toy that will have limited distribution. “We’re going to take a slow approach to rolling them out,” Mr Spiegel told the newspaper. “It’s about us figuring out if it fits into people’s lives and seeing how they like it.”

Snapchat Now Allows Users To Save Snaps/Stories as Memories.

Jul 7, 2016 By

In the recent times, there have been many apps and companies which have been booming due to rise in popularity. One of the most popular apps of recent times has been that of Snapchat, which has been growing at a really rapid pace, and has recently overtaken Twitter in terms of evaluation as well as active users. The company has now been working on improving many offerings and features of theirs, and has now introduced a brand new feature called Memories.

Screenshot_5

Snapchat has described Memories as: “Memories is a new way to save Snaps and Stories on Snapchat. It’s a personal collection of your favorite moments that lives below the Camera screen. Just swipe up from the Camera to open Memories!”

In their blog, the company writes:

You can use Memories to create new Stories from Snaps you’ve taken, or even combine different Stories into a longer narrative! It’s fun to celebrate an anniversary or birthday by finding a few old Snaps and stringing them together into a new Story 🙂

We’ve also created a new way to send Snaps from Memories to your friends, or even post them to your Story. If you post a Snap you took more than a day ago to your Story, it will appear with a frame around it so that everyone knows it’s from the past.

We realized that Snapchatters want to feel comfortable showing their Memories to friends while they’re hanging out together, so we made it easy to move Snaps and Stories to My Eyes Only — and avoid awkward moments when a friend stumbles upon a Snap meant just for you.

Memories is backed up by Snapchat. We won’t backup any photos or videos from your Camera Roll, unless you use one to make a new Story or add it to My Eyes Only. In that case, we’ll back up only the photo or video that you used.

We’ll be rolling out Memories selectively over the next month or so — it’s a big change for our service so we want to make sure everything is running smoothly! You’ll receive a Chat from Team Snapchat when Memories is ready for you to use.

With the arrival of memories, things are all set to get interesting for Snapchat. Though the update is quite slow, but it is totally worth the wait. For more info on Snapchat’s updates, you can check out this amazing story on Snapchat Score.
