The Samsung Z, which is the company’s first Tizen smart phone, has been launched.
The new model will be available initially in Russia starting Q3, after which it will soon be launched in other markets.
The South Korean giant has revealed that it will be offering additional applications for its Samsung Z users via the Tizen Store.
Moreover, the company has also announced a special promotional program for developers which will be for one year’s duration. This has been done in an attempt to lure more developers to its new Tizen ecosystem.
However, the company has not yet announced pricing details of the Samsung Z; though it is be expected to be announced in Q3. Samsung will be showcasing the new Tizen smart phone Samsung Z at the Tizen Developer Conference probably on June 3 in San Francisco.
The Samsung Z sports an angular design with lines which is quite peculiar and aims at providing a differentiated look and feel from company’s Android-based Galaxy range of smart phones.
The model will be available in two colours – Black and Gold. The Samsung Z also features the Heart rate sensor, Fingerprint sensor, and S Health 3.0 app which makes it quite similar to the Samsung Galaxy S5.
The model is a single SIM device which runs the Tizen 2.2.1 OS out-of-the-box. It features a 4.8-inch (720×1280 pixels) HD Super AMOLED display and is powered by a 2.3GHz quad-core processor which is backed by 2GB of RAM.
Moreover, there is 16GB of inbuilt storage, which is expandable further through a microSD card (up to 64GB) slot. The Samsung Z boasts of an 8-megapixel autofocus rear camera with LED flash and BSI sensor, along with a secondary 2.1-megapixel front-facing camera.
Looking at the connectivity front, one can notice that the Samsung Z includes 3G, 4G, Wi-Fi, Micro-USB, Bluetooth, GPS/ GLONASS, and NFC options. The phone packs a 2600mAh battery with an Ultra Power Saving Mode feature.
Also, the Samsung Z measures 138.2×69.8×8.5mm and weighs 136 grams.
