When tech giant Apple announced its cord-free Apple Airpods on September 7 this year, they instantly became a subject of jokes and memes across the internet. However, these in-ear headphones were better than expected. Let’s take a look at their features.
Apple Airpods at a Glance…
The brand new Apple airpods come in pair. They’ve their own antennas and batteries (maximum battery life: 5 hours) for independent communication. Their super-smart proximity sensors let them play audio when inserted inside ear. The sound is automatically paused when they’re removed. Although the earbuds lack physical button, double tapping on the body activates Siri that can be commanded with the integrated mic.
- Wireless W1 Technology
W1 allows seamless pairing with all Apple devices (phone, tablets, computers, TV and watch). The pairing is automatically configured and synced over iCloud so all Apple devices can track it. Surprisingly, the headphones communicate using standard Bluetooth protocol.
They look identical to standard earpods, minus the wire. A part of device extends away from ears when you insert it, but that looks pretty cool.
- Setup and Connectivity
To pair it up with your Apple device, you just have to open its carrying case in the vicinity of your device. A window will pop up on your device asking you to connect the airpods with it. Thus, you don’t have to navigate through the entire menu to search for Bluetooth settings.
Apple airpods deliver crisp, clear and superior sound quality with a wider audio range. It has adequate bass and leans towards the treble end of the spectrum. In short, it sounds excellent indoors. The downside is that subtlety of audio disappears outside especially in noisy areas and concerts because of its open air design. Nevertheless you can blissfully thrive in pure sonic experience.
With Apple airpods, you can easily carry on with your conversation while driving. The signal rarely drops so it’s better than Beats headphones.
