The Gmail app for smartphones is the best mail app of today.
The application simplifies the usage of emails on your smartphones.
Starting from the ease of searching emails to sending your real time notifications on your device, the app keeps you updated about your inbox quite effectively, to ensure that no mails are overlooked.
Labeling of mails helps keep the inbox more organized. The new Gmail app also allows you to access multiple gmail accounts from a single app.
The application has already been launched for the Android Lollipop 5.0. Material design has been added to the interface and elements are now flatter in design and icons are transparent, just like material design applications work.
The best part of the application is that you can not only use the app for Gmail, but can also use it for Yahoo or Outlook as well.
Though the application is present in the phones by default, if it is not present for some reason, it can be downloaded manually from the website.
A number of users from other Operating systems like iOS for example have also installed this mail client and it works wonders for them.
Let us take a look at what makes this app so popular even among other operating systems.
Conversation View is Customizable: The application is completely customizable.
The mail settings can be changed easily by going to ‘Options’ on the top right corner and tapping on Mail Settings.
Conversation View can be changed to display all replies clubbed with the initial message so it’s easier to keep the loop handy.
Signature: Users can enter a signature for identification. This signature might be anything you feel is the best to keep – like your name, your title or organization or your phone number.
Various ways to make an Attachment : If you prefer the basic uploader, it would continue to let you attach one file at a time.
If you want to attach many files together, you’ll need to go to the Advanced settings and select many files for uploading. The progress while attaching is also shown this way.
Vacation Responder: If you do not feel like responding to messages while you are on vacation, you can set the start and end date of your vacation and feed in a default reply that will be sent to all messages received in the inbox.
Use of Shortcuts: Keyboard shortcuts make using the mail client easier. The option has to be activated from the settings of the client and is a good arrangement for technically sound users.
Snippets View: The Snippets view shows a preview of the subject line of the message combined with the first couple of lines in the message body. If you turn it off, you can see just the subject.
Labels: They can be used to organize messages. Labels can be created or deleted with ease.
Accounts Settings: The Accounts tab can be accessed not just for changing the password, but also for setting security options and changing send addresses.
Setting Filters: Incoming messages can be managed better with this feature. Messages can be starred and a level of importance can be set as per your preference.
