WhatsApp leads the markets in IM clients, with over 600 million users, Viber on the other hand provides a VoIP service integrated with IM services, which sets it apart.
Kik is another development in the field of IM as it offers anonymity and an all new experience, similar to that of the BlackBerry Messenger, yet quite different.
Kik messenger is all about socializing and creating a community of your friends on Kik. “What’s your kik” is a popular phrase nowadays. The kik messenger can be downloaded and used on the smartphones as well as on the PC.

WhatsApp on the other hand is already an established market player and has over 600 million users. With Facebook purchasing whatsapp, there is expected to be a lot more coming up, and in a short period of time whatsapp will boom even more than it today has.
To use WhatsApp on PC, one has to use the same emulator as Kik, the process will remain the same.
Viber, however, is a different ball game, as it has an official app available for Smartphones as well as for PCs, as it comes in as a direct competition to Skype in the VoIP markets, and has managed to bite into a sizeable chunk of Skype’s audience. Viber can be used on a PC as well as a Smartphone and allows synchronization features as well.
